Recommended Lawn Care:

For Warm Season Lawns

Warm season lawns in the St. Louis area include Zoysia and Bermuda grass. These grass types thrive in the hot, humid weather of our area but only in full sun conditions.  These lawns once established are fairly easy to maintain, however, the drawback of warm season lawns is they are dormant 6 months.

1.      Spring  (May 1- May 15)

Apply Fertilome Lawn Food Plus Iron.  This application will help green-up the lawn quicker and promote a lush green lawn. If a serious broadleaf weed control problem has occurred in the lawn, I recommend applying Fertilome Weed Out.  This is a liquid herbicide.  Follow recommended label rates.

2.      Early Summer (June 1-June 30)

Apply Fertilome Lawn Food Plus Iron.  This application will promote a thick, lush stand of grass.  If you notice any insect activity in the lawn, I recommend applying Hi-Yield Kill-A-Grub Plus.  This will control any insect populations including potential white grub infestations.

3.      Late Summer (July 15-August 15)

Apply Fertilome Lawn Food Plus Iron.  This treatment will thicken the turf.  A thick stand of grass will reduce the potential for weed infestation.

This program will create a lawn you’ll be proud of.  Just remember, it’s not going to be an overnight miracle but with a good fertilization regime, proper watering, and timely mowing, your lawn will be the envy of the neighborhood.
